DeXign Global Philippines: Where Local Meets Global and Global Meets Local

October will be a month of new beginnings for the Center for International Trade Exhibitions and Missions (CITEM) as it launches DeXign Global Philippines on 17 October 2013, opening alongside its other signature event Manila FAME, The Design and Lifestyle Event.

DeXign Global is a platform that combines business and design, serving as a venue for international creative exchange and trade promotion in the country. The event will bring together creative aesthetics and design sensibilities from international talents, highlighting the ASEAN countries and their own brand of design and artisanship.

DeXign Global is “where local meets global and global meets local.” It becomes a new marketplace where local and global markets converge and offer a wider array of home and fashion products, providing a fresh sourcing venue for trade buyers who regularly come to Manila FAME in search of quality, innovative, and design-driven products.

In its special show feature called DeXigner’s Gallery, DeXign Global will feature distinguished designers internationally acclaimed for their design creations including France-based designer Arik Levy, best known for his sculptures; Anon Pairot, Bangkok’s design visionary known for his artful and functional pieces that poetically imbibe industrial modernism with local craft instincts; and Kyoto 6: Japan Handmade, a collaboration of six craft-based companies aiming to evolve traditional techniques and create designs with a playful approach to Japanese crafts.

Other designers are also being tapped to showcase at DeXign Global: Philippines-born Lyndon Neri of the renowned Neri&HU Design and Research Office; Carol Cassidy, founder and owner of Lao Textiles; and AlvinT, an Indonesian group of designers led by Alvin Tjitrowirjo.
