Manila, Philippines – The Philippines will be among the 36 participating countries to showcase their best of food products at the 10th edition of Thaifex – World of Food Asia, to be held at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand on May 21-25, 2014.
The country’s participation in the said trade fair is a maiden joint undertaking between the Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization, Inc. (Philfoodex, Inc.) which spearheads the event, with support from the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the export promotions arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). This partnership between the government and the leading organization in the Philippine food industry marks an upturn, as this synergy is anticipated to achieve a stronger and more successful Philippine participation in an international food trade event.
“We are pleased to support the Philippine participation in the 10th edition of Thaifex, and we are very excited to work with Philfoodex regarding this undertaking. Through this venture, we hope to establish a higher standard of quality among our local food industry players, and at the same time to aggressively promote our local food brands abroad, both with the end-goal of establishing an international stature for Philippine food products,” said Ms. Rosvi C. Gaetos, executive director of CITEM.
Meanwhile, Philfoodex president Mr. Roberto C. Amores said that their goal in Thaifex is to further boost the Philippine food exports, which accounts for 7.25% of the total Philippine exports in 2013. “With the increase in domestic production of banana, mango, and pineapple in the last quarter of 2013, we hope to further push the promotion of our fresh and processed food in key markets abroad this year, and to prove that we are a reliable supplier of the global demand for fresh products.”
The Philippines will present its popular topnotch processed food, snack items, specialty products, sauces and mixes, and beverages such as fresh tropical fruits and vegetables; dried fruits; mixes, sauces and condiments; canned goods; baking and pastry ingredients; tropical fruit preserves; snack products; noodles; canned juices; polvoron; and ready-to-eat and grocery products.
